

Samoa U21 ranked 9th in the World Youth Cup
Samoa’s remarkable 9th Place finish in the World Youth Cup.In a remarkable display of skill, determination, and teamwork, Samoa’s Under 21 National Team made their mark at the Netball World Youth Cup held in Gibraltar.
The tournament brought together some of the world’s most talented young netballers, and Samoa’s rising stars stepped onto the international stage with pride and passion.The first phase of the competition saw Samoa face off against strong opponents in the Pool Games. Despite fierce competition, the team secured impressive victories against Northern Ireland and Singapore. These wins showcased their ability to perform under pressure and highlighted their growing confidence on the court. However, the team also faced tough challenges against Australia and Scotland, where they fell short but demonstrated resilience and spirit.Finishing third in their pool, Samoa advanced to the 9th to 12th category in the Post Pool Play Round.
This was their chance to prove their mettle once again, and they seized it with both hands. In a dominant display, the team won all three of their games against Tonga, Fiji, and Wales. Each victory was shared by the girls and the most enthusiastic support system in the tournament, culminating in a well-deserved 9th place finish in the tournament.
This achievement is a significant milestone for Netball Samoa, as it not only highlights the talent and dedication of the young players but also serves as inspiration for future generations of Samoan netballers.
The team’s performance was well received by the Samoan people across the globe and with this success, Netball Samoa continues to build a legacy of excellence and passion for the sport.The journey of the Under 21 National Team is a story of perseverance, teamwork, and triumph.
The team that was led and guided by; Paula Stuart- Head Coach, Natalie Matthews- Assistant Coach, Tusi Faasootau Ale- Team Manager, Amelia Wardell- Physiotherapist with the support of Netball Samoa CEO, Justine Samu Wilson-Ata.
Team Samoa:Tava’e Maria Tatupu- Captain, Tynisha Faasisila- Vice Captain, Brooke Marchant, Julia Tuua Solomona, Mia Swann, Piuti Laban, Kaylee Tamala, Lata’anga Holi, Ciarn MacBride, Madison Sanele, Tianna Apelu and Unique Pritchard. Traveling Reserves: Amataga Gidlow- Tuilagi, Grace Ioelu and Jenaya Lata.
Their 9th place finish has brought confidence to the people of Samoa in the bright future ahead for netball in the country.
